Standard key



A basic key with no buttons and a fixed blade.


Fixed blade key



Has a fixed blade, but also has a fob with buttons.


Tibbe blade key



Like the fixed blade key, however it has a unique cylindrical blade, often associated with Ford and Jaguar. The fob can occasionally have a few buttons.


Flip blade key



A fob. usually with buttons, and a flip blade that is used to start the vehicle.


Dash insert key



A fob which is inserted into the dashboard and then a push-start button starts the vehicle.


Keycard - proximity / non proximity



A bank-card shaped key which can be inserted in the dashboard or put in close proximity to start the car.


Proximity key



A key which does not require insertion and only needs to be near to start the car.


Twist proximity key



Similar to the proximity key, however instead of push-start button, you need to twist a switch near the ignition to start the car. Commonly found on Nissan and Suzuki.
